The 33rd West Virginia School Bus Safety Roadeo is scheduled for June 18-19, 2008 in
Raleigh County. This important event, designed to improve and recognize driving skills, is sponsored by the WV Department of Education and the WV Association of Pupil Transportation.
The School Bus Safety Roadeo is an important part of WVDE Policy 4336. It is our responsibility as school transportation administrators to provide, as part of our school bus operator inservice training, some type of skill development exercise in bus handling. What is better than a roadeo when we can practice our skills, win prizes, have fun and engage with our fellow transportation family members.
RULES:

First, second, and third place winners in each category in any county roadeo, conducted this year are eligible to participate.

If your county is not participating in a county roadeo, you may select three school bus operators to participate.

All contestants must have completed the 2005-2006 school year without a preventable accident.

Drivers NOT PRE-REGISTERED will not be permitted to participate.

Each contestant may enter only one class of competition.

In addition to trophies given by category of competition, there will be a “novice” award given to the highest scoring person who has not previously been a contestant in the State School Bus Roadeo and does not win in his/her category. The trophies will be presented at the conclusion of the roadeo competition.

No one will be permitted on the course during competition except the contestants and the judges.
